What Public Works does
The Public Works Department supports infrastructure projects financed and built by the city for transportation, recreation, employment, and health and safety. That includes public and municipal buildings, roads and bridges, pipelines, public spaces such as parks, and long-term assets like the water supply and sewer system.
The department also handles tree and leaf-litter removal, grounds-keeping across the city, and snow removal to keep streets safe in winter.
